The Jeunesses Musicales International Chamber Music Campus is one of the world’s most renowned masterclasses of its kind.
For 11 days, young ensembles work with international artists, including one of the leading string quartets of the young generation. Members of the Artemis Quartett, Vogler Quartett, Cuarteto Casals and Miró Quartett – just to name a few – have all been in Weikersheim. The Artistic Director is Heime Müller, Artemis Quartett’s former violinist and tutor of violin- and chamber-music-classes at the Lübeck Academy of Music and Queen Sofía College of Music in Madrid.

The JM International Chamber Music Campus is part of the program of Jeunesses Musicales International and a project of Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland. This campus originated from the International Summer Courses at Weikersheim Castle and has a tradition dating back to 1956.
Prince Constantin von Hohenlohe welcomed courses for music students from all over the world to Weikersheim Castle, from which not only emerged the extensive Jeunesses Musicales course programme, but also one of the largest music academies in Germany, where around 11,000 young musicians receive further music education every year. In 2005, it was appointed "World Meeting Center of Jeunesses Musicales International".
The course is still at the heart of this dynamic and inspiring “Home of Jeunesses Musicales” World Association and is an integral part of its unifying objectives. At the same time, it is an intensive opportunity to study at the highest level, offering highly talented ensembles a platform to prepare for a professional career.
Since 1956, the chamber music campus challenges each group to realize its potential through the core values of quality, authenticity, and team-spirit. World class teachers offer an interaction that goes far beyond that of usual master-class attitudes; in Weikersheim, every professor seeks to discover and mold the individual identity of each young group. The interaction with young people from all over the world enables a personal connection through music and encourages students to go beyond their own boundaries and limitations.
A series of concerts will offer ensembles the opportunity to perform publicly. The Walbusch Award is conferred on one ensemble and renowned partners such as the Gezeitenkonzerte, Heidelberger Frühling, Hohenloher Kultursommer, Mozartfest Würzburg, Rheingau Musik Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival and Le Dimore del Quartetto are looking for “rising stars”.
Thanks to generous donations from public and private donors, all participants are Scholars of Jeunesses Musicales and only contribute an accommodation fee.
