studied piano with Klaus Schilde (Munich) and Leonard Hokanson (Indiana University) and lied interpretation with Helmut Deutsch and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. She won several first prizes in international and national competitions and is in demand as a chamber music pianist and teacher in numerous concerts and masterclasses where she passes on her experience to the next generation, e.g. International Summer Academy Frenswegen, in workshops in several Music Universities, Villa Musica or for young prizewinners in the "German Chamber Music Course Jugend musiziert". Her CD-recordings got highest ratings from Fanfare and Fono Forum, her students are prizewinners in international and national competitions.
Angelika Merkle has been professor of piano chamber music at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts since 2003. She is also artistic director of numerous projects such as the renowned chamber music series "Festeburgkonzerte", the International Schumann Chamber Music Prize and the music education project "COMM1T".
